RUNWAY
INSIDE
LOOK
: FW19

The Michael Kors FW19 Collection drew its inspiration from the glamour of 1970s and '80s New York City—the era of supermodels like Jerry Hall and disco icons like Grace Jones. The highly-anticipated runway show, attended by A-list celebrities and global influencers, took place at the iconic Cipriani’s in downtown NYC, with a surprise performance by none other than music legend Barry Manilow.

The MK team enlisted me to art-direct an Inside Look video that would capture the magic of the show, both backstage and on the runway— with mere hours to shoot, edit, and release it online. Inspired by the intoxicating glitz of Studio 54, I crafted a visual treatment featuring hazy, prismatic effects, all achieved practically with lens filters. The video team at Spreadhouse did an incredible job bringing this vision to life, perfectly capturing the shimmering, dreamlike energy of the moment.

RUNWAY
INSIDE
LOOK:
SS20

The SS20 Michael Kors Collection was all about American optimism with a touch of nostalgia. The runway show took place inside the Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn, New York, with a soundtrack performed live by children from the American Modern Opera Company.

Once again, the MK team asked me to join them to art-direct the Inside Look video– shot, edited and released in the same day. Since the collection was centered around nostalgia, I put together a visual treatment that included retro effects like lo-fi camcorder video (we shot with real 90s camcorders) and VHS glitches. We mixed these more textural shots with phone-captured and hi-res video to create a video recap of the runway show, backstage prep, and celebrity appearances that feels both modern and now-stalgic.
